Scuba dive the remote Socorro Islands, only by liveaboard, and a 26-hour sail from Cabo. You will be rewarded with possibly one of the best diving experiences of your life. Comprised of four volcanic islands (the Revillagigedo Archipelago) located in the Pacific off the coast of the Baja peninsula, the diving provides the chance for big animal encounters, a pelagic paradise.
Experience giant Pacific manta at the boiler, San Benedicto, Humpback Whales, dolphins, and sharks at Socorro, and schools of Jacks and Tuna at Roca Partida. This destination rivals Cocos Island or the Galapagos for sheer exhilaration. The Revillagigedo Archipelago National Park was created in December 2017. The country’s largest marine protected area covers 57,176 square miles (148,087 square kilometres) and safeguards from fishing and other extractive activities.
When you think of diving Socorro, the liveaboard that first springs to mind is undoubtedly the Solmar V. The vessel and crew have taken amazing care of divers in the area for decades.
Scuba diving in Socorro is an incredible experience from the Pacific Fleet’s legendary Solmar V. A 35-meter-long, steel-hulled, exploratory motor yacht, she is fitted with a classic wooden interior and a large dive deck and camera tables.
The Solmar V offers adventurous and exceedingly comfortable dive trips to some of the most exhilarating dive destinations in the world – Socorro and the Sea of Cortez. The crew is one of the most highly experienced in Mexico and will offer you all the support you require during your week or longer onboard.
This liveaboard caters to up to 22 guests in 12 well-appointed rooms, each with a private ensuite bathroom and air conditioning.
Cabins comprise superior and standard staterooms; the superior cabins are slightly larger and situated in the middle of the vessel. There are also single-cabin options for individual divers.
Not only will you sit down to three-course meals but the cocktails, wine, and beer are included with dinner. Meals can be taken in the comfortable dining room, or sit in the solarium and enjoy the ruggedly beautiful scenery of the Revillagigedo Islands.
