Raja Ampat

Discover the extraordinary underwater world of Raja Ampat diving, widely regarded as the most biodiverse marine ecosystem on Earth. Located in West Papua, Indonesia, this remote archipelago offers vibrant coral reefs, dense schools of fish, manta ray cleaning stations, reef sharks, pygmy seahorses, and crystal-clear mangrove channels.

A liveaboard journey through Raja Ampat provides unmatched access to remote dive sites, pristine reefs and thriving marine habitats — far beyond the reach of day boats. It remains a premier destination for world-class Indonesia diving.

The Damai I

Traditional Indonesian phinisi Damai I cruising on calm blue water

The Damai I is a traditional Indonesian phinisi crafted specifically for premium Raja Ampat liveaboards. Built for stability and long-range cruising, she navigates Raja Ampat’s diverse regions with ease — from the fish-filled channels of Dampier Strait to the colourful reefs of Misool.

With just 7 spacious staterooms, Damai I typically hosts a maximum of 12 guests, creating an intimate and relaxed atmosphere onboard. The vessel is supported by a professional Indonesian crew known for outstanding service and local expertise.

Large deck areas, dedicated camera facilities and thoughtful design make Damai I especially appealing to underwater photographers and guests who appreciate space between dives.

Accommodation

Each of the Damai I staterooms features:

Individually Controlled Air-Conditioning – Allows guests to adjust the cabin temperature for personal comfort.

En-Suite Bathroom – Private bathroom equipped with a hot and cold shower.

Comfortable & Practical Cabin Setup – Includes comfortable bedding with quality linens, ample storage space, and a desk or work area ideal for photographers.

Accommodation aboard Damai I is notably spacious compared to many liveaboards in the region. Cabins include a mix of lower-deck and upper-deck staterooms, offering privacy and generous layouts.

Between dives, guests can relax in the indoor lounge, shaded outdoor seating areas or expansive sun deck.

The Diving

Raja Ampat diving is world-class — and Damai I’s itineraries are carefully curated to showcase the region’s most celebrated Raja Ampat dive sites while avoiding overcrowding.

Expect thriving coral gardens with extraordinary biodiversity, manta ray cleaning stations, reef sharks, wobbegongs and schooling jacks, dense fish populations at Cape Kri and Sardine Reef, and macro treasures including pygmy seahorses and nudibranchs.

Damai I typically offers 3–4 dives per day, supported by spacious dive tenders that allow comfortable entry and exit. Dive briefings are thorough, and planning is aligned with tides and currents to optimise safety and marine life encounters.

Nitrox is available for certified divers.
