Large stretches of the black sand Dauin coastline are marine protected areas and life is flourishing because of it, not just the bigger fish but also the critters. Famous for Frogfish, Dauin ranks as one of the top two macro locations in the Philippines alongside Anilao. About a 50-minute boat ride away is Apo Island. The oldest marine protected sanctuary in the Philippines; this small island plays host to extremely vibrant coral life, fish, and large numbers of sea turtles.

About 50 minutes away on the dive bangka is Apo Island, the longest-running marine protected area in the Philippines and home to extremely healthy fish, coral, and turtle populations.
