Tubbataha located in the Sulu Sea is a marine reserve and a world UNESCO heritage site, due to its location and dependence on weather conditions is only accessible by liveaboard, and dived March till June. The marine reserve is made up of two reefs, referred to as North and South, both reefs enclose a sandy lagoon. A lighthouse stands on an islet at the southern tip, which is used as a rookery for birds and is frequented by sea turtles. Tubbataha Reefs Natural Parks is home to more than 570 species of fish, 370 species of coral, 11 species of shark, and 12 species of dolphin and whale. A steel-hulled vessel that has safely been voyaging the seas since 1974, when she was formerly a Soviet spy trawler during the cold war. After being decommissioned, she was purchased and converted into dive liveaboard, operating in the Philippines since 1998, she is one of the longest-running liveaboard vessels in the country. The M/Y Resolute carries a maximum of 16 divers in 8 cabins, each with a private bathroom and climate controlled A/C. During your five days of diving the crown jewel of the Philippines scuba destinations, you will explore all of the UNESCO heritage sites’ atolls and reefs, including Jessie Beazley Reef. During your cruise, you will be encountering an array of different shark species, including Blacktip, Whitetip, Grey Reef, and Nurse sharks; you will also be on the lookout for Tiger, Hammerhead and Whale sharks. The marine park is a vital sea turtle hatchery, so you will be treated to Green turtle and Hawksbill turtle spotting.
