Divers can explore the famous Thistlegorm wreck, a British cargo ship sunk during World War II. It is now home to schools of batfish, giant groupers, and many other marine species. My favorite dive site is Ras Mohammed National Park, at the tip of the Sinai Peninsula, boasting pristine coral reefs teeming with life and is an essential destination for divers exploring the Red Sea. 5. Galápagos Islands, Ecuador Diving in the Galápagos Islands offers a unique opportunity to encounter an extraordinary array of marine life, including marine iguanas, Galápagos penguins, and the world’s northernmost coral reefs. The convergence of three major ocean currents results in nutrient-rich waters attracting large pelagic species such as hammerhead sharks, whale sharks, and manta rays. The Wolf and Darwin Islands are particularly famous for their large schools of scalloped hammerhead sharks and the chance to spot the elusive whale shark.
